Printheads - Datamax / Meto

Thermal printhead technology has been pushed far ahead of existing aftermarket products by the development of Long-life and Smart Printheads™. This advancement in product offerings drives down thermal printing costs as the Long-life and Smart Printhead™ product line offers a life expectancy far beyond those of current OEM’s.
When using a Smart Printhead™, it utilises an on-board computer, allowing the facility to gather valuable information enabling the tracking of usage, performance monitoring and operating conditions (such as printer setup and optimization, usage reporting, and longevity) and it simplifies warranty claims. It is a totally new feature for thermal printheads.
A further innovative feature of the Smart Printhead is its brand new warranty system based on linear inch tracking. The on-board computer in the printhead itself tracks the product usage, allowing the warranty to be based on linear inch usage instead of a time period as used by other systems. Printhead use data is uploaded to a PC through a USB port for simple warranty administration.
The groundbreaking linear-inch based warranty method for Smart Printheads™ means that anyone can stock a supply of printheads without fear of warranty expiration before the product is needed.

Preventative Maintenance
Prevention is always far better than cure. To maximise the performance and longevity of your thermal printheads, we recommend a regular cleaning schedule using 99% pure isopropy alcohol wipes. Using a product with less than 99% isopropyl alcohol contains too much water and can cause damage to the printer.
We recommend the following cleaning schedule:
For thermal transfer printing, clean the printhead and platen roller with each ribbon change.
For direct thermal printing, clean the printhead and platen roller with each new roll of labels.
